Resolved Question: Did I choose the wrong man?

My boyfriend and i have been together on and off since high school and I really don’t know where this relationship is going. I am 29 now, Indian and very confused. My boyfriend is also Indian. The relationship hasn’t really been good but I am comfortable with him. He has cheated on me in the past and I have taken him back. I have now let him move in with me. He treats me like I am a small piece of his life. He told me that i am a nobody and will always come last in his life. I think he is just acting this way. He spends most of his time cruising the internet, drinking and smoking pot. He took me to starbucks for coffee on valentines day.
I met a different guy over a year ago and we bacame friends.He is white and italian. As time went by he fell in love with me. He always put me first in his life even down to the food we ate together. I noticed that he would never put a piece of food in his mouth until i started eating. He would sacrifice for me and give up things he wanted or needed so i can have the things I wanted or needed. He even paid to shut down the local bar we go to so him and I could have a private dinner together. He told that being with my boyfriend was lowering my self esteem and i was developing self worth issues. When he finally told me that he loved me unconditionally I told him it was best we never speak again. It has been 11 months since we last spoke. He did wish me a happy diwali but i didn’t answer him back. I don’t know if that was the right decision. I now realize he was the only person in my life who was being true to me

The Antarctic Peninsula is considered to be the last region of Antarctica to have been fully glaciated as a result of Cenozoic climatic cooling. As such, it was likely the last refugium for plants and animals that had inhabited the continent since it separated from the Gondwana supercontinent. Drill cores and seismic data acquired during two cruises (SHALDRIL I and II) in the northernmost Peninsula region yield a record that, when combined with existing data, indicates progressive cooling and associated changes in terrestrial vegetation over the course of the past 37 million years. Mountain glaciation began in the latest Eocene (approximately 37-34 Ma), contemporaneous with glaciation elsewhere on the continent and a reduction in atmospheric CO(2) concentrations. This climate cooling was accompanied by a decrease in diversity of the angiosperm-dominated vegetation that inhabited the northern peninsula during the Eocene. A mosaic of southern beech and conifer-dominated woodlands and tundra continued to occupy the region during the Oligocene (approximately 34-23 Ma). By the middle Miocene (approximately 16-11.6 Ma), localized pockets of limited tundra still existed at least until 12.8 Ma. The transition from temperate, alpine glaciation to a dynamic, polythermal ice sheet took place during the middle Miocene. The northernmost Peninsula was overridden by an ice sheet in the early Pliocene (approximately 5.3-3.6 Ma). The long cooling history of the peninsula is consistent with the extended timescales of tectonic evolution of the Antarctic margin, involving the opening of ocean passageways and associated establishment of circumpolar circulation.

[Optical characteristics of colored dissolved organic material (CDOM) in Yangtze Estuary].

Absorption property of colored dissolved organic material (CDOM) is one of the most important contents to remote sensing of ocean color in estuarine and coastal areas. In this study, the optical properties and mixing behavior of CDOM in surface water of Yangtze Estuary were discussed according to the two surveys in August of 2008 and May of 2009. Based on the research, the absorption coefficient and spectral slope were discussed. It was found that in summer of 2008 CDOM absorption coefficients at 440 nm [a(g) (440)], ranged from 0.20 m(-1) to 0.73 m(-1), while the coefficients in 2009 varied between 0.20 m(-1) and 0.77 m(-1). Statistics showed that the power function model fitted the best in the regression analysis of CDOM absorption spectral. The spectral slopes (S(g2)) of CDOM calculated by the power function model ranged from 5.10 to 7.90 in Summer of 2008 and from 2.95 to 6.11 in Spring of 2009. The highest absorption coefficients of two cruises appeared both in the south passage of the Yangtze Estuary. The absorption coefficient in surfer water was observed varied tremendously in the estuary and the offshore area. And the main reason is affected by the turbidity maximum zone. It is observed that the absorption coefficients of CDOM tended to a homogeneous distribution whilst the layers of water mixed tempestuously, but otherwise it always showed a conservative mixing behavior. Because of the frequent mixture, there is not assured correlativity between S(g2) and a(g) (440). In the offshore area of Yangtze Estuary, the effecting of local production cannot be negligent, which differed from the estuary area. Yet when the hydrological environment was relatively stable, the negative relationship between them was very clear. In conclusion, the optical properties and mixing behavior of CDOM had showed tremendous different characteristics from inside the estuary to outside the estuary because of the influence of complex physical, chemical and hydrology conditions.

Gaseous elemental mercury (GEM) and reactive gaseous mercury (RGM) were measured during an eight month circumnavigation to obtain knowledge of their worldwide distributions in the marine boundary layer (MBL). Background GEM concentrations were found to be 1.32 ± 0.2 ng/m(3) (summer) and 2.62 ± 0.4 ng/m(3) (spring) in the northern hemisphere and 1.27 ± 0.2 ng/m(3) (spring and summer) in the southern hemisphere. Radiation and relative humidity are shown to control diurnal cycles of RGM. During the cruise the ship passed areas of clean MBL air, air influenced by biomass burning (South Atlantic) and air with high concentrations of GEM and RGM of unknown origin (Antarctic). High GEM concentrations above the Atlantic indicate that emission from the ocean can be an important GEM source. Our data combined with data from earlier cruises provides adequate information to establish a seasonal cycle for the Atlantic. Results show a cycle similar to that found at Mace Head, Ireland but with larger amplitude. We have improved the basic knowledge of mean GEM and RGM concentrations in the MBL worldwide and shown how natural sources and reemissions can affect GEM concentrations in the MBL.

Surveillance data on the distribution of viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV) in the North Sea (UK), targeting Atlantic herring in areas with previous virus detection, were obtained from research cruises conducted during 2005. The sensitive molecular approach of real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) was applied alongside a newly developed endogenous positive control assay specific for herring (elongation factor 1α) to ensure integrity of template. Three hundred and five pools from 1937 individual herring were tested, and no evidence of VHSV in association with wild Atlantic herring was detected. Samples were obtained from Scottish waters where marine aquaculture is conducted. The results confirm that previous tissue culture studies have most likely not significantly underestimated the prevalence of carrier herring in this area. The significance of migratory species such as herring as a reservoir species for VHSV, with the potential to translocate virus genotypes between geographical areas, is discussed.
